"The Traveling Tree"
~ the tale of a Special Christmas Tree's journey to the White House.
Written and illustrated by Mrs. Young's Third Grade class at the Bridle Creek Elementary School.

In 2006, the Smokey Holler Christmas Tree farm provided the tree for the Blue Room of the White House, in Washington, D.C.
The owners, Earl and Betsy Deal, had won the honor by entering a tree in the National Christmas Tree Association's annual contest, in 2004.

In all, three trees were chosen from their farm, and the Deals enjoyed the journey to present the trees to Mrs. Bush at the White House.

The Deals shared their adventure with the Third Grade class at Bridle Creek Elementary School, of Independence, VA. The class decided it would make a good story for a book, so they worked together to write and illustrate "The Traveling Tree".
